2,000 homes is quite an occasion for WDH’s newest resident

A Wakefield housing provider said it with flowers – and a big banner – when it welcomed a family setting up home in its 2,000th newbuild property.

The three-bedroom house on The Gateway development by Avant Homes is now home to tenant Elizabeth Jacques and her son (pictured). They were given a warm reception by staff from Wakefield & District Housing (WDH) after they moved in.

The West Yorkshire based housing organisation was also marking its 2K milestone since it began building or acquiring newbuild homes in 2007.

Jacques said: “I am in love with our new house. I never thought I would be able to live somewhere like this. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity, we can’t wait to get settled and start our lives in our beautiful new home.”

Andy Hollings, WDH’s development manager, said: “Delivering our 2000th new home is a fantastic achievement and something that we are extremely proud of. Not only are we ensuring that WDH continues to grow, it means that the standard of homes that we provide is continually increasing. Seeing how happy Elizabeth was today makes what we do all the more rewarding.”
