Birds-eye view shows Muir’s Blackpool housing scheme ready for off

MUIR Group is ready to go with a new housing development in Blackpool after clearing the former industrial site.

Groundworks have been completed at the former factory premises on Watson Road, preparing the way for the 44-home development. This will see the construction of 27 two-bedroom and 15 three-bedroom houses, as well as two two-bedroom bungalows. All the new homes will be offered at “affordable” rent.

“The former industrial site on Watson Road has stood empty for many years, so we are delighted that our efforts to encourage housing development is moving forward,” said Councillor Christine Wright, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for housing. “This scheme will make a positive contribution to meeting affordable local housing needs.”

Muir is working with MCI Developments to regenerate the area and help tackle a shortage of affordable housing in Blackpool.

The housing association’s executive director of assets and growth, Sam Scott said: “Blackpool is in much need of quality affordable housing and this development underlines Muir’s dedication towards helping deliver quality new homes to the town.”

The properties are expected to be completed in Autumn 2019.
