A housing association is to invest £2.7 million to build a new housing development on a derelict site in Salford (pictured).

Great Places Housing Group plans to build 21 new homes for “affordable” and social rent on the site, which is located in the Little Hulton area. The properties will consist of a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes.

This new development is located close to The Wells on Old Lane, an £8.6 million mixed-tenure site, which is currently delivering 83 new homes.

“The homes at Seddon Street are part of our ongoing commitment to help combat the housing crisis across Greater Manchester,” said Helen Spencer, Great Places’ director of development.

“Our development programme is extensive over the next decade and we are delighted to be able to be tackling long standing derelict sites close to our existing homes.”

Matthew Sorrigan, Business development director at Casey Group, added: “We are very pleased to be partnering with Great Places in this new development scheme and are looking forward to bringing quality affordable homes to this area in Little Hulton.”
