WORK is underway to build 48 new homes on the site of a former sports club in Salford.
ForHousing, part of the ForViva Group, is transforming the site of the former Barton Lane Sports & Recreation Club in Eccles, which had sat unoccupied since November 2016.
The scheme consists of 48 apartments for Affordable Rent, consisting of 24 one-bedroom and 24 two-bedroom homes.
Mangrove Estates Ltd are the developers on the site with Watson Homes responsible for the build and Grays Architecture leading on the scheme design.
“It’s really good news that the Barton Lane development has started on site,” said Nigel Sedman, ForViva’s group director of homes. “It will provide greatly needed affordable homes for 120 people and takes our investment into new homes in Eccles to over £20 million.”
The Barton Lane development is part funded by a £1.68 million grant from Homes England. It is earmarked for completion by Winter 2020.
