HOUSING association One Manchester has awarded a contract to provide lettings services for its £14.2 million Clockworks development in Moss Side to Plumlife.
The Didsbury-based firm, which is part of the Great Places Housing Group, will also provide the sales and lettings service for One Manchester’s Sandpiper Place development in Gorton. Together, they put the overall value of the contract in the region of £60,000.
All the homes on the Clockworks development (main image) are being marketed as rent to buy, with rents set at 80% of market rates for up to five years.
Sandpiper Place, meanwhile, is a development of 26 three-bedroom houses with a mix of rent to buy and shared ownership properties.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Plumlife to work alongside One Manchester in offering a great product for people looking to take those first steps onto the housing ladder,” said Plumlife lettings manager, Jayne Witkowski.
“The rents are competitive whilst still allowing tenants to save to purchase their apartment in the future. The development is already proving to be really popular; the location is great – you can walk into the city centre in 20 minutes, the apartments have two double bedrooms and a really sleek, modern specification, plus the rooftop garden will have great views of the city.”
Rent to buy is a government scheme that claims to give people who are currently struggling to save for a deposit the opportunity to do so, while living in the home that they could eventually buy.
