“[Around] 1.6 million energy customers in the UK say they’ll be forced to choose between heating and eating this winter and nearly 17,000 of those households are in Liverpool — that’s a frightening prospect for anyone to have to face,” said Jean Graham, the company’s senior community engagement manager.

“As well as the online shopping frenzy this Friday, it’s also Fuel Poverty Awareness Day. It can be a real stretch for some people to cover all their bills and household essentials, especially as we head into winter and spend more on heating to keep warm.

“However, there are lots of ways energy costs can be reduced. On Friday, we’ll be on hand throughout the morning at the Holiday Inn on Lime Street, providing free advice and information about available Government schemes, support and grants to help people with their energy bills. We’ll also be sharing practical tips on the small changes that can be made around the home to keep costs down, as well as talking people through the process of comparing energy deals to see if they can save money by moving to a cheaper plan.”

The Healthy Homes Winter Survival Event is free to attend and is taking place today, Friday 29th November, at The Holiday Inn, Lime Street from 10.00am – 1.00pm.
