The South East housing association Mount Green has appointed a new contractor to help improve the delivery of day-to-day repairs, maintenance and voids across its 1,700 homes.
Chigwell Construction, part of the Chigwell Group, will support the social landlord and its residents until at least April 2022.
Chigwell currently delivers repairs and maintenance services for a range of housing associations and local authorities across London and the South East. Its clients currently include Wenlock Barn, Poplar HARCA and Shepherds Bush Housing Association.
“A core focus for us and many housing providers across the sector is ensuring our customers are heard,” said Andrew Donaldson, director of property and assets at Mount Green.
“Whilst we work on meeting the expectations of the promises made in the past, it was important to us that we also made a number of changes to improve our current service offering.
“Chigwell is a known and established contractor across the South East and so we are delighted to be working with a reputable team that not only understands our business and the needs of our residents but will also benefit the local economy too.”
Chigwell’s interim appointment is part of Mount Green’s work to adapt its approach to handling repairs, maintenance and voids.
Last month, the Surrey and Sussex-based housing association announced that it has doubled the size of its property and asset team, which will be overseen by a new director.
Alongside these organisational changes, the housing association is also working with its residents to design a brand new repairs programme.
Dean Floyd, chairman of Chigwell Group, said: “Throughout the pandemic we have continued to deliver on time, within budget and to a standard that exceeds our customers’ expectations.
“It is one of the main factors for our success in winning major tenders like Mount Green and so we’re delighted that even through these challenging times that our ‘Right First Time’ approach is continuing to cement our company’s continual growth.”
