The North West housing association Onward Homes has appointed Rob Loughenbury as its new director of strategy.
Loughenbury joins Onward after seven years at leading North West property communications agency Lexington Communications where he previously served as director.
Loughenbury’s new role will see him supporting the housing association as it plans and delivers its contribution to the sector as a social landlord and as a builder of new homes through its Onward Living brand.
Loughenbury said: “Onward is ideally placed to make a defining contribution to our regional recovery, as a housing association playing an active civic role and as a home builder of scale and quality.
“My focus will be on developing our ability to work with current partners, and new ones, to support the full range of customer housing aspirations and make a positive difference in the communities we serve.”
While at Lexington, Loughenbury specialised in advising clients in relation to planning applications, land allocations and national housing policy.
His clients included national and regional housebuilders, the housing association coalition Homes for the North, and the Housing the Powerhouse campaign group.
Prior to working in agency, Loughenbury completed a PhD focused on community relations in towns in the North of England.
Bronwen Rapley, Onward Homes’ chief executive, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rob to Onward. His perspective, experience and insight will help us to develop our strategy and strengthen our position as a leading housing association and builder of new homes in the North West.”
Onward Homes is one of the North West’s largest registered providers of social housing, managing 35,000 properties across the region.
The housing provider has committed to build 400 new homes each year across the North West from 2022.
